Turning Work into Worship

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

AL SALAM ALAIKUM 🌱

💡 Divine Inspiration

One night, as I was about to fall asleep, the name came to me in a “EUREKA” moment. It was as if the heavens were whispering the answer into my ear.

I remember reaching out to my phone, my fingers trembling with excitement, and texting my sister, saying, “I FOUND THE NAME. WORKSHIP LABS.”

The words carried a sense of divine inspiration, a realization that this was more than just a business venture—it was a calling.

With a surge of energy, I leaped out of bed and rushed to my computer. The domain registration happened within minutes as if the universe was aligning to support this new endeavor.

As I closed my laptop and settled back into bed, a smile spread across my face. I knew that this was the beginning of something extraordinary inshAllah.

I want to thank you so much for your subscription. Since launching this initiative, I have had nearly 200 subscribers join within the first 72 hours!

I also thank those who have reached out via email or text. Your words of encouragement are genuinely valued. May Allah reward you abundantly and may you find it beneficial.

The truth is that faith and work intersect.

The highest calling is not being an Imam, Scholar, Entrepreneur, Manager, or any other worldly title or position you may hold or strive for.

It is about becoming a faithful servant to Allah and all that Allah called you to be in whatever position you find yourself in, namely a person who glorifies Him in everything you do.

The word “glory” conveys the idea of beauty.

Therefore, when we engage in good work that reflects Allah’s divine characteristics and attributes—graciously, purely, morally, ethically, and excellently—we reveal His beauty.

Our work becomes a form of worship to Allah. It holds intrinsic value and manifests Allah’s attributes when we work excellently (with Ihsan).

Faith and work should be seamlessly integrated; separating the two is like separating being from doing.

It reminds us that our work can serve and please our Creator and that our entrepreneurial endeavors can be infused with spirituality and purpose.

When we view our work as an opportunity to serve Allah and fulfill our divine purpose, it changes our perspective and approach.

It encourages us to align our actions with the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah.

By infusing our work to please Allah, we transform mundane tasks and everyday challenges into acts of devotion.

We recognize that our success and achievements are ultimately in the hands of Allah, and we strive to fulfill our responsibilities and make the most of the opportunities He has given us.

We approach our work with humility, gratitude, and a sense of accountability, seeking to make a positive impact and contribute to the betterment of the Ummah and the world.

🌱 Plant the Seedling

The famous Hadith of Prophet Muhammad inspired our Seedling character.

🪴 Nurturing Growth

Seeds and seedlings symbolize the potential for growth and transformation.

Just as a tiny seed contains within it the potential to become a mighty tree, entrepreneurs start with an idea or vision that has the potential to flourish into a successful business.

Like nurturing a seedling, entrepreneurs must provide the necessary care, attention, and resources to their ventures, allowing them to take root and thrive.

The entrepreneurship journey is akin to the growth of a seedling, facing challenges, adapting to the environment, and preserving to reach its full potential.

Just as seeds and seedlings require patience, resilience, and nurturing, entrepreneurs must cultivate those qualities to bring their ideas to fruition and create a lasting impact.

💯 Strive Until the End

How I understand the Prophetic hadith is that as Muslims, we must continue working excellently and doing good deeds until the end.

This means persistently performing acts of righteousness and striving to do good, regardless of the timing or circumstances.

It signifies the continuous effort and dedication we should have in seeking to please Allah and contribute positively to the Ummah and the world until the very end.

This week, I invite you to reflect on your work and identify areas where you can turn your daily activities into acts of worship.

Here’s how you can participate in this challenge:

  1. Self-Reflection: Take some time to reflect on your work and its purpose. Consider how you can align your intentions and actions with your faith.111
  2. Identify Opportunities: Identify specific tasks or activities in your work that can be transformed into acts of worship. This can include “small” things, such as acts of kindness, dealing with integrity, showing compassion, and gratitude.
  3. Set Intentions: Before starting each task, set a clear intention to perform it with excellence (ihsan) and to please Allah. Remember that even minor actions can be valuable with the right intention.
  4. Reflect and Learn: Throughout the week, reflect on your experiences and the impact of infusing worship into your work. Please remember the positive changes in your mindset, attitude, and interactions with others.
  5. Share and Connect: Share your experiences and insights by replying to this email. I read and respond to every email 🌱

🤲 Closing Dua

May this challenge inspire you to unleash the beauty of the Almighty in all aspects of your business and life as you strive to serve Him through your work.

Wishing you a week filled with meaningful worship through your work💫

Note: If you are reading this email for the second time, it’s not because of any mistake. Blame it on my mischievous two-year-old niece, who loves to play with keyboards, and accidentally made a typo, resulting in the need for a resend. Jazakum Allah Khair for understanding! 😄
